An encounter with monsoon severe weather...
Video Description: My encounter with a severe thunderstorm and flash flooding in Phoenix, AZ during Monsoon 2018!
Flash flooding during the monsoon in the Desert Southwest region is a constant and dangerous threat. Weather conditions can deteriorate rapidly as locally strong thunderstorms move in to or near your area. You might find yourself suddenly facing flooded roadways. Never attempt to drive through flooded waters! Water is powerful. That road under water may not exist or be damaged. Plus, it only takes about 6 inches of moving water to knock down an adult and 12-18 inches to float most vehicles. Turn around don't drown! Simply wait out the storm and rising waters or find an alternative safer route.
Remember water rescue efforts not only risk the lives of first responders, but also take away precious time and resources to perform their duties during emergency situations!
